The Newsletter for the Gay and Lesbian Study Group of the American Musicological Society has been published semi-annually, in fall and spring, since January 1991. (There was no issue for fall 1993.) As with the LGBTQ Study Group generally, its objectives include promoting communication among lesbian and gay music scholars, increasing awareness of issues in sexuality and music in the academic community, and establishing a forum for the presentation of lesbian and gay music studies. The Newsletter also intends to provide an environment in which to examine the process of coming out in academia, and to contribute a positive political climate for gay and lesbian affirmative action and curricula. Finally, the "Current Bibliography," largely the work of J. Michele Edwards, is intended as a running source for publications dealing with GLBQT issues.

A subscription to the Newsletter is automatically included with membership in the LGBTQ Study Group. Please refer to the Subscribe section of this site for specific information about membership and its privileges.

We welcome news items, announcement of conferences, concerts and workshops, special bibliographies, syllabi, suggestions, and letters. Send submissions to Rose Theresa, Newsletter Editor, by February 15th and September 15th of each year.

Libraries are authorized to photocopy materials in this Newsletter for the purposes of course reserve reading at the rate of one copy for every 15 students, and may reuse copies for other courses or for the same course offered subsequently. Back issues are available from the LGBTQ Study Group Secretary-Treasurer, Richard J. Agee.
